What is subjective and objective financial well-being?
The perceptions that individuals have about their financial condition often are measured subjectively by asking how the individ- ual feels about his or her financial condition. In this study, the liquidity, investment, and debt-to-asset ratios are identified as objective measures of financial well-being.
Subjective Financial Well‐being (FWB) research has gained considerable interest from both academics and practitioners recently. This research area focuses on the consumer's self‐assessment of his/her disposition, belief, attitude, and behavior concerning money management, spending, savings, and investment.
Subjective financal knowledge, or the confidence in one's ability to engage in a particular behavior, has also been shown to be an important driver of behavior in a variety of financial settings (e.g., Farrell et al.
An individual's financial health can be measured in a number of ways. A person's savings and overall net worth represent the monetary resources at their disposal for current or future use. These can be affected by debt, such as credit cards, mortgages, and auto and student loans.
Financial well-being means how much your financial situation and money choices provide you with security and freedom of choice. We developed a questionnaire and a scoring method as a tool that can help you take stock of your financial well-being.
Financial well-being is measured objectively using three financial ratios including the liquidity ratio, the debt-to-asset ratio, and the investment ratio.
For us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), financial wellbeing is about feeling secure and in control. It's about making the most of your money from day to day, dealing with the unexpected, and being on track for a healthy financial future. In short: financially resilient, confident and empowered.
Key Differences Between Objective and Subjective
Objective means making an unbiased, balanced observation based on facts which can be verified. Subjective means making assumptions, making interpretations based on personal opinions without any verifiable facts.
What do objective and subjective mean? Objective means verifiable information based on facts and evidence. Subjective means information or perspectives based on feelings, opinions, or emotions.
For example, a person's preference for a particular type of music or food is subjective knowledge. Objective knowledge, on the other hand, refers to knowledge that is based on verifiable facts and empirical evidence. It is not influenced by personal opinions or perspectives and is considered universally true.
What are the 3 levels of financial well-being?
(2020, p. 1596) found that FWB has three dimensions: meeting expenses and having some money left over, being in control, and feeling financially secure.
- Learning how to manage your money and establishing a personal budget.
