How long does it take for line striping to dry? ›

Understanding Drying Time

Typically, pavement paint may feel dry in about 30 minutes, but it is essential to allow sufficient curing time before vehicles can be driven or parked on the painted surface. Generally, waiting for at least an hour before allowing traffic is recommended.

The road marking paint used is touch dry in 5 minutes, is generally driveable in an hour (depending on humidity) but full cure is not achieved for seven days. Full cure means the paint is both fully dry and hard.

After you've spent time and elbow grease on a great project, it's tough to remain patient and let the paint dry fully before putting the item to use. Oil-based paint - dry to the touch in 6–8 hours and ready to recoat in 24 hours. Latex paint - dry to the touch in about 1 hour, and you can safely recoat in 4 hours.

DRY & RECOAT

Dry and recoat times are based on 70°F (21°C) and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to the touch in 15 minutes and is fully dry in 8 hours.

How to speed up paint drying? ›

Temperature, humidity and airflow are the three main components that affect the dry time of paint. Regulate all three by opening the windows in the area you're painting—just make sure the air outside isn't more humid than the air inside. Try to choose the warmest, driest day of the week to tackle your painting project.
