AFTERNOON. WELL, IF YOU WANT A WEEKEND AT A WATER PARK, THE CITY OF BLUE SPRINGS HAS A NEW OPTION FOR YOU. THE NEW BLUE SURF BAY HAS A 40 FOOT WATER SLIDE TOWER THAT CAN BE SEEN FROM I-70 GOVE BRIAN JOHNSON IS LIVE THERE TONIGHT GETTING US PREPARED FOR OPENING DAY TOMORROW. AND BRIAN, THIS PLACE IS BRINGING SURFING TO THE MIDWEST. YOU GOT IT BRIAN. IT’S SO MUCH FUN. THEY PRETTY MUCH HAD TO KICK ME OUT. THAT’S HOW GOOD IT IS. THIS IS FOUR YEARS OF PLANNING. TAKE A LOOK. 18 MONTHS OF CONSTRUCTION AND NOW, YES, THE MIDWEST HAS A BEAUTIFUL BAY. AND THERE IT IS. THE RECREATION COMPLEX IS NAMED AFTER CARSON ROSS, THE FORMER MAYOR OF BLUE SPRINGS. WE ARE EXCITED FOR WHAT THIS MEANS FOR BLUE SPRINGS. WE WORKED TO MAKE THIS A REALITY BEGINNING IN 2012. WHAT WE WANTED TO DO WAS BUILD SOMETHING THAT PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERYBODY TO FEEL LIKE THEY HAD SOMETHING THAT REALLY RESONATED WITH THEM. THE PLACE RESONATES. DENNIS STOVALL IS THE ASSISTANT CITY ADMINISTRATOR. HE SHOWS US THE INDOOR SPLASH PAD, LAP SWIM, NINJA CROSS COURSE, SUSPENDED FROM THE CEILING. THIS IS INDOOR, SO THIS WILL BE YEAR ROUND. SENIORS CAN EXERCISE YOUTH CAN LEARN TO SWIM. GUYS, THIS IS THE SLIP STREAM. THEY SAY THIS IS THE LONGEST STAND UP SLIDE IN THE WORLD. IT’S 300FT LONG. THERE’S ALSO FOUR OTHER WATER SLIDES. ONE FEEDS RIGHT INTO A 600 FOOT LONG LAZY RIVER. I’M JUST EXCITED THAT WE CAN OFFER SO MANY UNIQUE FEATURES. CABANAS FOR RENT OFFERS SOME PRIVACY. THERE’S A ZERO ENTRY POOL FOR TODDLERS, LOUNGE CHAIRS IN IT FOR THE MOMS TO BE ABLE TO SIT WHILE THEIR KIDS ARE HAVING FUN. SO IT’S JUST A GREAT LITTLE SPACE FOR OUR YOUNGER PATRONS. PLUS, A 13 FOOT OUTSIDE SCREEN WITH SOUND THROUGHOUT THE PARK. THINK MOVIE NIGHT AT BLUE SURF BAY. I’M ALL ABOUT THE SURF SIMULATOR. THIS SIX ENGINE SURF SIMULATOR IS ONE OF A KIND IN THE MIDWEST. THE DESIGN OF THIS WAS REALLY TO BRING SOUTH MIAMI BEACH OR THAT CARIBBEAN VIBE INTO THE MIDWEST AND HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO KIND OF FEEL LIKE YOU’RE AT THE BEACH, AND CITY LEADERS ARE ACTUALLY A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT ITS POPULARITY. THAT’S THE BIGGEST CONCERN. THERE ARE 300 PARKING SPACES, BUT THE FACILITY CAN ACCOMMODATE 1300. SO YOU MIGHT WANT A CAR POOL. LIVE IN BLUE SPRINGS. BRIAN JOHNSON KMBC NINE NEWS CAR POOL ARE TAKEN OVER. THANK YOU BRIAN, THE GRAND OPENING IS TOMORROW MORNING AT FIVE. THE FACILITY IS DESIGNED FOR BLUE SPRINGS RESIDENTS, BUT ANYONE OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT BOUNDARIE
