Tired of endlessly scouring the internet to find fun things to do in the Victor Valley area? We've got you covered.

Here's our own compiled low-down of what's happening around the High Desert this week and weekend.

Choose from a family movie night, line dancing lessons, vintage shopping, an event at Grange Hall, and more to fill your downtime this week.

Wild Goose Vintage & Thrift Store Grand Opening

is the newest addition to the ever-evolving Old Town Victorville. The grand opening for the community kicked off on Saturday, Aug. 24 with music and food but the official city ribbon cutting will be Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to noon.

The community is invited to shop through a fun selection of clothing, trinkets, and other pre-loved goodies after the official debut ceremony. Located at 16822 C St., the new vintage store bears relation to its sister Goose vintage store in Apple Valley, which also donates its proceeds to The Ruth and Naomi Project for senior housing and community programs.

Family Movie Night

The High Desert community is invited to a night of free popcorn, film screening, and fun. Spring Lake Valley Association presents a free showing of Night at the Museum starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30 at Meadowlark Hall, 12975 Rolling Ridge Dr.

Bring your own chair or blanket and meet other Spring Lake Valley families at the community event. SVLA membership IDs or guest passes are required for the cinematic showing.

Apple Valley car show

What's a High Desert event calendar without a weekly car show? Apple Valley's Car Show & Barbeque Bash is happening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 31 at 9425 Central Rd.

A set by D.J. Kev Dog will pump up car enthusiasts during the raffle, door prize giveaways, and trophy ceremony. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs, and all proceeds will go to U.S. veteran charities.

Southern Spirit at Buckeye Jack's

One of the High Desert's hottest country bands is taking the stage at Buckeye Jack's Saloon this Friday, Aug. 30. Music starts at 8:30 p.m. and there's no cover to line dance well into the night.

Southern Spirit will be tackling a double-header with shows on both Friday and Saturday at Buckeye Jack's Saloon, located at 22581 Highway 18, Apple Valley.

A High Desert review from local Jesse Moralez encourages the community to check the band out.

"Never a dull moment when listening to this great southern rock /country band. Talented array of vocalists, if you want a band that can keep the crowd entertained, look no further than Southern Spirit!"

Free line dancing lessons

Add some extra fun to your weekend itinerary with free line dancing lessons at the same live music location, Buckeye Jack's Saloon. Free lessons are offered every Saturday starting at 6 p.m. with a beginner's workshop and 7 p.m. with dance lessons for all skill levels.

The saloon is a 21 and over venue and a food menu is available to re-energize two-steppers.

Kidchella Grange Hall

Hesperia's Grange Hall is finally open and hosting community events in full swing. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, a fun kid festival will ring in the High Desert fall event season.

Kidchella will include face paint, balloon animals, a photo booth, food and snacks, a magician, a ball pit, and indoor games. The event is hosted by Snunch Pack Charity Events and proceeds will go to supporting the charity and its future events.

Admission is free for children under 2, $5 ages 5 and under, and $8 ages 14 and over.

Live music at Wolfman Rick's Music Shop

Wolfman Rick's is the newest music shop in the High Desert area.

Specializing in vinyl records and guitars, Wolfman's is opening itself up to the community with a live music show from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at 15055 Bear Valley Rd., Hesperia.

The local band Rascals of Ruckus will christen the shop with their live rock set. Normal business hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to Monday. Open jam sessions are welcome during hours of operation.

Art, fashion, dance Cyber Brat event

The High Desert's very own underground nightlife organizer, Vesper HD, is hosting a Cyber Brat event at 9 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 31 at Ricky's Bar in Victorville.

The cover is $8 at the door and live performers Hannsel Cancelled and Simzzz from Berlin are on the line-up as entertainment. The electronic dance party is scheduled to last until 2 a.m., so be sure to wear your best, most comfortable dance shoes.

Sonic Sound Experience Fundraiser

Experience total relaxation for one hour straight at the Sonic Sound Experience Fundraiser from 12 to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept, 1 at 18575 Corwin Rd, Apple Valley.

From percussion to wind instruments, vocals, and tuning forks, experience the vibrato of each instrument in a new way to meditate. A $25 donation is recommended, and sound bath goers are advised to bring their own yoga mat, blanket, and water.
